Lunch with Laurynn

Susan (Grammy), Matthew and I had lunch with Laurynn at school on Monday, February 9th. We brought Schlotsky sandwiches and it was a treat.

Catching up

It's been almost two weeks since blogging and it's been hectic...My Grandma Maxine fell on Saturday, Feb 7th and injured her left knee and shoulder. Thank goodness, nothing was broken and after seeing a orthopedic doctor, she can resume to using her walker again. Then, I got sick with some digestive problems and I took it easy for a few days. I assume it was from stress with Grandma being in the ER for several hours.

Matthew, at 6 1/2 months old is great! He can almost sit up by himself without topping over. He reminds me of being a bobble head baby! He's whizzing through his fruits, and he's now on the 2nd foods since he's eating more. I combine his meals with a vegetable, fruit and cereal. He's tried his newer fruits, peaches and pears with success. The first time he tastes something new, he makes this funny face that's priceless. Let's see if he'll like prunes. Ha ha...

I take Matthew tomorrow (Friday) for his 6 month milestone portraits and I hope they can get some cute poses. Stay tuned for an update with pictures.

Time is growning near for Laurynn's Reading TAKS test on Tuesday, March 3rd. 10 days and counting down! She's been preparing for it since last October and I'm confident she'll pass it. In the State of Texas, 3rd graders have to pass the Reading TAKS in order to promote to 4th grade. They have two more chances to pass if not the first time.

Laurynn's had a good week; she passed a Math Benchmark test on Wednesday. Actually, it was an old Math TAKS test. Her teacher was so happy she passed that she personally called me with the wonderful news. Since this was Laurynn's first time to pass a Math Benchmark test, it was a very big deal. We rewarded her accomplishment with the Speed Stacks she's been asking for weeks.

It's hard to believe this school year is more than half way over. Only 15 weeks left of school :) It's been an important school year with the TAKS tests.

Six months old

Our Matthew is 6 months old! His well baby examination was today and is officially 16 pounds and 6 ounces; 26 1/4" inches long. He's developing right on target; the doctor said I can start him on 2nd foods. His next checkup will be at 9 months old (May). I took many (as usual) today to mark his milestone and got some great shots with the Nikon D60 camera. I have to admit I got some great snapsnots of Matthew. Where has the six months gone?
Enjoy!

Busy week

It's been a busy week as usual...Our little guy will be six months on Friday! Matthew has his 6 month checkup tomorrow and I'm curious to see how big he's grown. He can now wear size 6-9 months; his footed sleepers are 9 months, since he's getting so long. At his 4 month checkup he was 13 lbs, 12 oz. & 25" long. I'm guessing now he's close to 16 lbs and around 27" long...Matthew is really enjoying her "jumperoo"; he likes to play with all the little toys and jump up and down. When I change his diaper, he still giggles and laughs when it's time to change his clothes. I guess it tickles around his neck...It's the cutest thing! He's such a good baby. When I take him with me on errands, he hardly makes a sound, just is looking around and enjoying the ride. Matthew started bananas on Monday and he likes it...In the past, he hasn't liked the rice cereal, so I started to mix a little fruit and he's been eating it just fine.

Zoe had her spay surgery on Monday and she's back home resting comfortably. She's camping out in the office to prevent her from jumping great heights i.e. Laurynn's bunkbead. She'll got back in two weeks to have the sutures removed...
