"Firsts" for Matthew

On Monday, Matthew had a day of milestones...Much to Mommy's astonishment, he crawled for the first time. I was unloading the dishwasher and happened to glance over and Matthew was crawling! I grabbed the video camera. Laurynn brought him back to the couch and I placed the tv remote (he loves) near me. After a few seconds, he crawled to it! Watch out now, here comes Matthew! Time to baby-proof the house get the baby gates from the attic.

For dinner, I made a crockpot of homemade chicken noodle soup. I diced the soup in little pieces and tried it on Matthew. He liked it! The night before I gave him a little bit of hamburger with noodles and he just played with it in his mouth. He was getting angry because I had to get more helpings of soup for him. Hmm, what shall I try next?

Rachel's birthday

Another birthday has come and gone...Number 39 in '09...It was a good birthday spent with loved ones and friends...We went out to dinner with Devon and Glenn to Manuels and came back and had game night. Thanks everyone!

Great news!

We have wonderful news! I received the call from her teacher. Laurynn passed the Math TAKS! We're so proud of her hard work and determination this year. I knew 3rd grade would be a challenge because of the TAKS testing. All the extra hours private tutoring has paid off with success! Way to go Laurynn!

She's sure to have a big SMILE :) on her face when she gets home today!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day 2009 was a great day with much activity. The morning started out with kolaches from The Kolache Factory (our fav). Laurynn, Matthew and I visited Grandma Maxine and I took one of her scrapbooks of pictures dated back to the 30's and she reminesced. She enjoyed seeing the kids as always. We came home, ate a quick bite for lunch, then I took Laurynn to a movie in the afternoon. After the movie, returned home, Laurynn wanted to do the Slip-N-Slide and Matthew played in his kiddy pool for the first time. He splashed the water and didn't mind the temperature (it was cold!) For dinner, John grilled steaks which were delicious. Our day ended around 8:30 from dinner, cleaning up the kitchen, kids taking baths, then bedtime. As you can read, a lot of activity, almost too much for one day. It was fun! My head hit the pillow and I was asleep.

I'm 9 months old!

Matthew is 9 months today...How time flies by! He has two bottom teeth and is erupting 4 teeth on the top. He's not crawling, but has started to pull himself up on his rear end. What a big boy!
